Women's Leadership & Community Impact
Research indicates women are more involved in community volunteerism, more often oversee family finances, and play a greater role in philanthropic decisions than their male counterparts. Women are leveraging their leadership and making a greater impact by coming together through initiatives called Giving Circles. Circle 555, the women's giving circle of South Carolina Christian Foundation, engages women by introducing them to local ministries serving women, children, and families, and then assists them in making a difference in the lives of others.
The concept is simple but impactful. Each member contributes $555 annually. Of this $500 will eventually be distributed to local Christian causes. Throughout the year, these ladies engage a variety of organizations and learn about the services these charities provide. As a Circle, strategic ways of impacting the community through ministries are discussed and implemented. At the conclusion of the year, votes are cast by the membership and financial grants are made to many of the ministries learned about during the year's programs.
Circle 555 will host its 3rd annual awards brunch on March 9, 2013 during which its 2012 ministry grants will be presented. Contact Ruthi Neely at SCCF to become involved in this great work
