SCCF Awards $75K to Ministries in the Upstate

Spartanburg, SC – November 17, 2022 – South Carolina Christian Foundation (SCCF), a community foundation founded on Biblical stewardship, presented grants to 17 nonprofit organizations in Greenville and Anderson Counties. The grants are part of SCCF’s Community Trust Fund which supports ministries across the state that assist in serving the most vulnerable population of South Carolina.

“The Community Trust Fund is an avenue where our clients as well as other donors collectively give in support of ministries within South Carolina,” explained Bobby McDonald, South Carolina Christian Foundation’s President. “Funding is designated to critical needs of ministries where even small requests are a blessing that make a huge difference in carrying out their mission and impacting the lives of individuals and families.”

Funding for 2022 supported children’s evangelism, equipping and discipleship, addiction and recovery. This year’s recipients include:

Children’s Evangelism

  • Calvary Home for Children, a Christ-centered residential care facility and foster care ministry for children in crisis and transition  

  • Child Evangelism Fellowship, a ministry that provides after-school Bible clubs and local summer missions

  • Christian Learning Center, a ministry that provides biblical instruction to school-aged children as an opportunity to encourage them to embrace the Gospel of Jesus, grow in Christian faith, and apply biblical principles for living

  • LEAD Collective, a Gospel-centric inner-city ministry that equips and elevates leaders in the way of Jesus from under-resourced communities in Greenville

  • Fountain Inn Kid Enrichment (FIKE) Center, a Christian after-school ministry designed for children to grow educationally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually

  • His Turn Ministries, an inner-city soccer ministry that seeks to reach under-resourced youth through after-school meetings and sports

 

Equipping/Discipleship

  • David’s Table, a ministry that supports adults with disabilities and their families 

  • The Potter’s Place, a Ministry to Ministries organization that provides rest and renewal for those in ministry

  • 3GEN, an outreach ministry that equips men, strengthens families, and transforms generations

  • The River Upstate, an evangelistic and discipleship ministry that teaches lay people how to read, study and teach the Bible

  • Elder Source Senior Ministries, a ministry focused on delivering the Gospel to nursing homes and assisted living communities

  • Courageous, a ministry that provides Biblical counseling, support and fellowship groups for single adults


Addiction/Recovery

  • Christ Central Ministries (Oconee), a ministry that provides residential and programmatic care for men overcoming drug and alcohol addiction

  • Sammy’s Mission, a ministry that assists men with sobriety through programs and residential services

  • Homes of Hope, a ministry that includes a men’s workforce development program that helps men overcoming addiction learn construction and HVAC to help with transitioning to life on their own

  • Band of Brothers, a post-prison ministry that provides housing and services to those recently released from prison

  • Switch, a grassroots organization leading the movement to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the Upstate of SC


SCCF’s Community Trust Fund awards grants to local, Gospel-centric, nonprofit organizations serving communities throughout South Carolina. In 2022, SCCF awarded $225,000 to ministries in seven counties, including Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, Oconee, Spartanburg, York and Chester.
